Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I am a Standard Member but out of guess passes. How does pricing work if I have a guest but no more guest passes?

A: If you are out of guest passes but have a guest shooter the charge for them to use the range with you is $10. That is a $5 savings over what they would pay if they were not with a member.

Q: Can I purchase additional guest passes?

A: Guest passes are not available for sale. We issue 6 per membership each calendar year.

Q: Can one of my guests use the range if I am not present?

A: You must be present in order for a guest to check in and use your guests pass. If the guest is over the age of 18 they may shoot without you present on the range.

Q: Can I transfer my standard membership to someone else?

A: Standard memberships are non-transferable.

Q: If I am a member plus can my guests use my free gun rentals?

A: If you are present with them on the range, Absolutely!

Q: Can my guest and I have two lanes?

A: Yes. When you bring a guest shooter over the age of 18 in with you we are happy to issue your guest their own lane. During times when it is busy we may request that you share a lane to make range use more convenient for everyone.

Q: How do reservations work?

A: We require 24 hours advanced notice on reservations. Each member may reserve one lane. We will not reserve lanes for non-members or guests of members, however if space is available we are happy to issue separate lanes at the time of check in. Lane reservations will be held for 15 minutes. If the reservation is not filled within that time frame it will be pulled. Reserving specific lanes or adjacent lanes is a request we accommodate when possible – however it is not guaranteed. Reservations are subject to availability and not taken on holidays or event weekends.

Q: Do I have to use my Birthday Machine Gun Rental on my Birthday?

A: You can use your Free Birthday Machine Gun Rental 7 days prior or 7 day following your birthday. You are welcome to purchase additional magazines to shoot through the rental, and we encourage you to bring your friends to join in the fun!

Q: I am from a different state/country. Can I still shoot at the Scottsdale Gun Club?

A: Yes! All you need is a valid (government issued) photo ID in order to use our range (Passport, ID card, Driver’s License, etc).

Q: How much does it cost?

A: It is 15 dollars per person per hour to use the range.

Q: Am I allowed to shoot my own firearm?

A: Yes. You may bring your own firearms to shoot. We require all firearms to be in a secure case, range bag, or holstered prior to entering our facility.

Q: I have never shot before. Do I need to take a class?

A: You do not need prior instruction in order to shoot at our range. We do require that you watch a safety video and fill out a waiver (before) using our facilities. We also offer private instruction and a wide variety of classes for everyone from first time to veteran shooters.

A list of our available classes can be viewed here.

We always encourage firearms training to enhance proficiency and safety.

Q: Am I allowed to take photographs and videos?

A: Yes. You may take videos and photographs of your own party.

Q: Do you sell firearms at the club?

A: Yes! We have a full retail establishment where you can purchase a wide variety of firearms. You can view most of the firearms and other accessories at www.sgcusa.com

Q: Can I shoot rifles and shotguns at your range? What kind of ammunition is allowed?

A: Yes. We allow rifles under .50 calibers. We DO NOT allow ammunition that is steel core, armor piercing, tracer, incendiary, or bi-metal jacketed. Shotguns are allowed, however the rounds must be at least #4 buckshot (or larger), or slugs. No birdshot/target loads. We ask that you inform our range staff that you intend on shooting a rifle or shotgun prior to entering the range so that they may verify your ammunition is appropriate for use on our range.

Q: Do you have a ladies night?

A: Yes. Mondays after 5PM women who are non-members may use the range for free. Women who are members are entitled to a free handgun rental.

Q: What type of clothing is required to use the range at Scottsdale Gun Club? Do you have a dress code?

A: We don't have a dress code, however, we recommend shooters wear closed-toed footwear and shirts that aren't low cut to avoid getting burned by spent shell casings.

Q: Do you offer gunsmith services?

A: Yes. We have a full gunsmithing shop and staff available on site.
Some of the available services can be viewed here
