The Colt 635 design is based upon the Colt M-16 and shares a
number of features with this firearm; the modifications are mainly
in order to accommodate the lighter and smaller ammunition (9mm
instead of the M-16's 5.56x45mm NATO).
The Colt 635 features a 4-position telescoping butt and fires
from a closed bolt, the barrel does not have the gas port / pipe
but uses the same trigger group. This compact size submachinegun
was designed for maximum concealability and can turn out sustained
and controlled fire in close confrontations. All shooting functions
can be performed while the shooting hand remains on the pistol
