DESCRIPTION
This class is designed for individuals who are considering carrying and using a firearm for
personal protection. It condenses all of our handgun classes after Basic into a great weekend course!
Course Covers: Improved Handgun Marksmanship, Mindset & Virtual Decision Making, Holster Draw & Shoot, Dynamic Handgun
Day One: Start with a lecture and move on to practical exercises. The student will learn to be in control of their surroundings. We will cover the defensive mindset, defensive tactics, and practical marksmanship. The student will also be taught the fundamental skills required to draw from a holster, engage various targets, reload as needed, and be able to tactically clear firearm malfunctions. After successful completion of this portion of the course, Scottsdale Gun Club Members will be considered “Holster Qualified” and granted the privilege to draw from the holster on our range. Day one covers Improved Handgun Marksmanship and Holster Draw & Shoot.
Day Two: The student will step outside their comfort zone and expand their situational awareness, improving their ability to achieve consistent accuracy with their handgun. Mindset is designed around real-world experience and giving everyone access to vital information about staying safe in an increasingly crazy world. Don’t get caught unaware! This seminar will cover the defensive mindset, tactics to escape and react to potentially dangerous situations. Students will experience split second decision making in our virtual training simulator which will prepare you for real-life situations. Learn to be in complete control of your surroundings. Then we will move down range and perform close-quarter exercises designed to expand your tactical CQB skills with a handgun. This portion of the class covers the basics of shooting on the move, the proper manipulation of the handgun while moving, and shooting from retention. Day two covers Mindset & Virtual Decision Making and Dynamic Handgun.

REQUIREMENTS
- Open mind!
- Handgun
- Good quality, well-made holster that appropriately fits your firearm – NOT an inside the waistband holster
- Must be competent in operating your handgun, do NOT bring a handgun you have never fired before
- Good quality tactical flashlight (LED with lithium batteries)
- Handgun mounted light is encouraged, but not required
- Multiple magazines
- 250 rounds of ammunition (can be purchased before class at SGC)
**No loaded firearms allowed in the classroom. Please bring them already cleared**
PREREQUISITES
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Basic Handgun class or SGC Private Instruction with Instructor Approval
