Cancellation Policy:
You may cancel for a full refund if you are canceling more than 72 hours in advance of the class, or you may reschedule for a $10 fee between 72 and 24 hours in advance of the class. Classes are non-refundable within 24 hours of the class. The 72 hour window gives SGC the opportunity to contact customers that have been placed on a waitlist for the courses.
Private InstructionPrivate Instruction is available from these skilled instructors in a variety of topics. Private Instruction is available for $95 per hour in as little as 15 minute increments. |

Dan SchmelzerDan Schmelzer has been a lifelong hunting and shooting enthusiast. With 16 years of experience in the law enforcement community, 10 of those as a Maricopa County Sheriffs firearms instructor. Currently he is the Lead Instructor and Range Master at Scottsdale Gun Club, Dan brings a wealth of knowledge and a thorough understanding of marksmanship fundamentals. His experience with the novice as well as the accomplished shooters gives him insight into getting excellent results in a short amount of time. His passion for shooting is demonstrated in his approach to instructing and how he encourages the student to excel in their shooting skills while paying the upmost attention to safety.

Brad BattagliaBrad Battaglia has an extensive background with over 16 years of real world experience using firearms. Brad’s professional use of firearms started as a U.S. Army Paratrooper serving as a machine gunner where he deployed to Iraq. Upon returning from deployment Brad became a Sniper and Sniper Team Leader. After leaving the military Brad returned to Iraq where he worked as a private military contractor providing close personal protection to U.S. Government Officials. Brad then returned to Arizona where he began his career in law enforcement. As a Police Officer Brad worked Patrol as well as serving as a SWAT Sniper, Field Training Officer and Firearms Instructor. Brad is both an NRA and USCCA certified instructor as well as an AZPOST Firearms Instructor. Brad has a passion for teaching new shooters and helping them build skills in shooting and personal protection. Chris LuebkinChris served for over 30 years in law enforcement on the Phoenix Police Department (PPD), and the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS). Most of his service was as a Tactical Operator, Team Leader, Training Sergeant, Crisis Negotiations Sergeant, and lead firearms and tactical instructor for the PPD’s elite SWAT Team, the Special Assignments Unit. Chris also served as an instructor and supervisor on the PPD Tactical Training Detail, providing firearms and tactical instruction to over 3,000 sworn members of the department. Additionally, he was the Commander of the AZDPS Tactical Operations Bureau, which includes the highly respected SWAT Team, Explosive Ordnance Detail, Tactical K-9 Unit, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Fugitive Apprehension Unit. Chris has been a firearms and tactical instructor for over 25 years, and is currently an AZPOST General, Firearms, and Rifle Instructor, as well as an NRA Law Enforcement and civilian firearms instructor. He has taught over 750 classes on strategic, tactical, and firearms operations, as well as crisis negotiations and crisis management, to law enforcement, military, and civilian students ranging from beginner to advanced. Chris has served as a subject matter expert (SME) on the topics of police use-of-force, firearms deployments and operations, tactical operations, and police policies and practices for the Phoenix Police Use of Force Board, as well as several highly respected Arizona attorneys, and has testified in the Maricopa County Superior Court as an SME. Jon AntrimJon Antrim is a well acclaimed competition shooter in USPSA, Multi-gun (3 gun) and IDPA as well as a certified Safety Officer in IDPA. He comes from a family of firearm instructors and has been one himself for 15 years. This as well as being a life long hunter allows him to bring a great amount of respect and understanding to what he teaches. Having taught with such diverse groups, from law enforcement and civilian to even The Boy Scouts of America, he understands the importance of nurturing new and established students in proper shooting fundamentals, safety and the application of advanced tactics. His curriculum spans Introduction to firearms, Intro to competitive shooting, Competitive principles, Defensive shooting skills, Home defense 1 & 2, Intermediate range and tactical rifle, Tactical pistol and Tactical shotgun as well as Sport shotgun shooting. Jon is a NRA certified instructor in pistol, shotgun and personal protection and is also one of our certified Shoot House instructors for Home defense. |

Trisha DennettTrisha Dennett is a Computer Forensics Engineer. She discovered shooting sports in 2001 when she was introduced to USPSA competition shooting. She developed her skills by attending training classes from several national and world class female champion shooters. This resulted in a passion for competition and a zeal to introduce more women to the shooting sports. Trisha is NRA certified in Basic Pistol, Personal Protection in the Home, Refuse to Be a Victim and Range Safety Officer as well as USCCA certified. She was asked to join our staff at SGC to provide a Ladies perspective in all handgun classes which led to our Ladies ONLY program which includes Ladies of Liberty, Defensive Handgun for Ladies and Concealed with Curves. |

Tim ForsheyTimothy A. Forshey is a firearms law and criminal defense attorney. He is also a Judge pro tem who handles primarily criminal cases and Orders of Protection. With over 25 years of experience in firearms law, personal injury law and criminal law, Tim is a member of the State Bars of Arizona, Colorado and Illinois and a member of numerous professional organizations. He has been featured in several prominent magazines, including Time, Money, Phoenix, and Guns and Guns of Weapons for Law Enforcement. A member of Mensa, Tim also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors Association. Tim has been a National Rifle Association-certified instructor since 1997 and has served as the lead concealed carry instructor at the elite Scottsdale Gun Club since it opened in 2002. He is certified by the U.S. Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) as an A class shooter, the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) as an Expert class shooter and by the Glock Sport Shooting Federation (GSSF) as a Master class shooter. He is also an active and successful 3 Gun competitor. He has won numerous state and national shooting competitions in his class. He is a Certified Range/Safety Officer and an Endowment Member of the National Rifle Association.notepad |
